Re "A welcome pinnacle of bipartisanship" (Editorials, Jan. 12): On Thursday, President Barack Obama signed a bill creating our state's ninth national park.
Sen. Barbara Boxer, who had fought for the bill for years, finally got the bill passed on Dec. 30, by unanimous consent.
Boxer also announced on Thursday that she is adding a climate change counsel, Joe Mendelson, to her Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, of which she is Chairwoman.
Boxer's office said Mendelson "played a key role" in the Supreme Court decision in 2007 that allowed the Environmental Protection Agency to regulate greenhouse gas emissions.
