Twenty-eight local nonprofit groups will receive a combined total of $741,206 in grant funding from Dignity Health, which operates eight hospitals in the region including its Mercy and Methodist affiliates.
The nonprofits that operate in Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer and Yolo counties will each receive grants ranging from $5,000 to $50,000.
"This year's recipient organizations reach out to local ethnic communities and provide services to multiple generations from infants to the elderly," said a Dignity Health news release.
The grants come from the Dignity Health Community Grants program, which "supports organizations that increase access to health care and address the underlying causes of illnesses," according to the release. Member hospital contributions fund the grant program.
The organization says it has contributed more than $6 million to 303 organizations in the Sacramento area.
The nonprofits will receive their grants during an award luncheon at Casa Garden Restaurant, 2760 Sutterville Rd., starting at 11:30 a.m.
