Re "Liberal group issues wish list gun control" (Page A10): Every advanced country in the world that has strict gun laws has few, if any, acts of violence with guns. Gun laws work to prevent gun violence when instituted on a national basis.
It seems the National Rifle Association is a gun sales promoter through fear tactics advanced by them and their surrogates on conservative talk radio.
They oppose closing the gun-show loophole that enables any criminal, madman or bad apple to buy any gun no questions asked.
All new guns are sold initially to a legal buyer. Guns that turn up at crime scenes often were obtained from legal gun purchasers who flipped them for profit at gun shows or on the internet. Gun registration would help to make it hard to hide how a gun ended up at a crime scene.
