Re "Region needs more options for transit to airport" (Editorials, Jan. 14): I am a user of the Yolobus airport service from downtown Sacramento.
I live in Midtown, a short walk or Regional Transit bus ride to the Yolobus airport stop. Yolobus is on time, the cost is low, the operators are skilled, and the equipment is clean and safe.
I would like to see more frequent service to the airport, but I do not want to displace already limited broader transit services Funding is too limited and land use patterns too sprawled.
The airport, and by implication the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, should take responsibility for providing better access via public transportation. Imagine the outcry if airport users faced the same access barriers as do users of Amtrak, Capitol Corridor, and even Greyhound.
The $1 billion spent on the airport expansion should have been saved to keep airport fees low and to fund public transit access.
