Re "Levee aid could be a casualty" (Dan Walters, Jan. 14): The Bee should be applauded for Dan Walters' new comedy column.
Walters' contention that the election loss of Rep. Dan Lungren, R-Gold River, will damage Natomas' chance of rebuilding their levees brought a smile to my face on a cold morning.
Lungren served in Congress from Sacramento for eight years and rarely put his constituents first. His town halls consisted of lectures. His campaign blamed only Democrats for our nation's challenges. He focused more on the Port of Long Beach's security than Sacramento's flood protection.
Because his priorities were not Sacramento's priorities he is now enjoying an early retirement from politics.
