Re "Hail to the Beer Pong King" (Living Here, Jan. 15): The game described in the article bears little resemblance to "beer pong" as we played it at Dartmouth College in the 1970s. We played standard ping-pong with the addition of beer cups as a table hazard: Each player had a cup of beer on the table in front of them. If the ball hit your cup during play, you drank (four drinks to the 12 oz. cup.) If the ball landed in your cup, you drank the remainder of the cup. If your cup got knocked over, you refilled it and drank the whole thing. Empty cups got refilled and play continued per normal scoring until someone won. The winner held the table to face another opponent; losers generally consoled themselves with another beer. Play was fast-paced and cutthroat. Hector Rivera's game is tame by comparison.
