Sacramento area weather: Dry, cold and same old through rest of work week

Not much day-to-day change is expected in the weather through the remainder of the work week.

Dry, cold weather is expected to continue due to a large ridge of high pressure lodged against the west coast. While December was very wet, January has been fairly dry in Sacramento with just .83 of an inch of rainfall downtown with half of the month gone.

January normally is the city's wettest month with 4.18 inches of rain.

So, weather service forecasters say don't bother with the umbrellas and keep frost sensitive plants protected. Some of the colder spots this morning at 6 a.m.: 28 degrees at Sacramento's Executive Airport, 28 in Elk Grove, 26 in Wilton, 27 in Lincoln and 26 at Folsom Lake's Dike 8.

The detailed, 7-day forecast for the Sacramento region:
