Re "No need for gun control" (Letters, Jan. 16): The letter writer states, "Currently, anyone purchasing a firearm has to have approval from a national instant criminal background check." This is not correct.
The Pew Research center, a non-partisan organization, says that unregulated sales at gun shows and unregulated private party party sales account for 40 percent of all gun sales.
It's important that we have the facts when we discuss the serious problems our country faces.
