The vacancy rate in the Sacramento region's retail market finished 2012 at 9.35 percent, the lowest level since 2008, according to the Sacramento-area office of Voit Real Estate Services.

Voit's fourth-quarter 2012 market report said the Sacramento office and industrial market posted about 820,000 square feet of positive net absorption.

"These are encouraging numbers across the board, and we anticipate that this improvement will continue steadily throughout 2013," said Tyler Boyd, market research analyst for Voit.

Voit also noted that the Sacramento office market ended last year with a 16.33 percent vacancy rate, down from 17.61 percent in the year-ago period and a peak of about 18 percent in the first quarter of 2011.
