Cold mornings, warmer days in Sacramento area weather forecast through weekend

Cold mornings and above normal daytime temperatures are predicted through the weekend.

The frigid mornings that have brought frost to lawns and ice on windshields this week are expected to continue. The low temperature at Sacramento's Executive Airport at 7 a.m. was 28 degrees.

National Weather Service forecasters expect that sunrise will begin a nice warm-up today with a high near 60 degrees predicted for Sacramento. The normal high for mid-January is 54 degrees.

No rain in the forecast. The 7-day Sacramento forecast from the NWS:

Today: Areas of frost before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 59. Light north northwest wind.

Tonight: Patchy frost after 10pm. Otherwise, clear, with a low around 32. Calm wind.

Friday: Areas of frost before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 60. Calm wind becoming north northwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.

Friday night: Patchy frost after 10pm. Otherwise, clear, with a low around 32. Light north wind.

Saturday: Areas of frost before 10am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 60. Calm wind.

Saturday night: Clear, with a low around 33.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 60.

Sunday night: Clear, with a low around 34.

M.L.King Day: Sunny, with a high near 60.

Monday night: Clear, with a low around 33.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 59.

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 40.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 56.
