The HP Co. Foundation is putting 188 acres of open land near Hewlett-Packard Co.s Roseville campus up for sale, with proceeds likely to be used for humanitarian relief.
The undeveloped site is west of Hewlett-Packards campus at 8000 Foothills Blvd.
The HP Co. Foundation awards grants for humanitarian relief in communities hit by disaster, matches employee giving and supports projects to improve education.
While there currently is no list price for the Roseville land, the foundation typically funnels such proceeds to humanitarian efforts worldwide.
Michael Thacker, a spokesman for Hewlett-Packard in Palo Alto, today released a statement saying that the 188-acre parcel was donated to the HP Co. Foundation in 2009. HP no longer has any ownership interest in this undeveloped parcel of land.
The HP Co. Foundation is in the process of placing this land on the market for sale. Proceeds from any potential sale will go towards the HP Co. Foundation, and will support their efforts.
The foundation coordinates its efforts with the HP Office of Global Social Innovation, which manages employee donations and product giving. The foundation does not accept unsolicited grant requests.
