Re Dan Walters: "Tax Reform in eye of beholder" (Dan Walters, Jan. 21): Perhaps it is time for the state to consider the registration of gun and ammunition clips as we do for the registration of motor vehicles.
As we require the payment of fees yearly for the registration of vehicles, require the payment for gun registrations yearly.
This would be for each and every gun owned by the person with the exception of guns registered to law enforcement organizations.
A stamp could be issued to be placed on the gun to show that it is currently registered. As with motor vehicles, the fee could vary in amount with the type of gun. Perhaps liability insurance could also be required for each gun owned. This certainly cannot be considered gun control.
