Re "Heat's on Johnson to assemble a Kings bid to rival Seattle's" (Sacbee.com, Jan. 22): So State Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, D-Sacramento, has written a letter to state officials asking them to detail how much money Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer's company is making on state contracts.
Steinberg is attacking Microsoft for the King's deal. Yet Microsoft is not purchasing the Kings.
Is this grandstanding by Steinberg or is he uniformed about the thousands of Microsoft employees in this state, the huge sales taxes paid on Microsoft products sold in this state and the hundreds of millions donated to our universities and non-profits? The Kings are the Sacramento area's problem, not a state concern.
