Re "One possibly futile gesture to keep the Kings" (Dan Morain, Jan. 22): Arrogance, thy name is Darrell Steinberg.
In 2009, Senate President Pro Tem Steinberg, D-Sacramento, was caught trying to get the Legislature to authorize $10 million for a Unity Center in Sacramento as part of an unrelated $10 billion water bond proposal. Once caught, he withdrew his amendment.
Now he's trying to arrogantly interfere in a private business transaction involving the Sacramento Kings. Whether the Kings stay or go should be none of Steinberg's Senate business.
If state government has been derelict in managing the state's contracts with Microsoft, that's one thing -- and shame on them. But please, Sen. Steinberg, don't use your political position to try to bully private citizens to conform their business dealings to your personal whims.
