A federal grand jury in Sacramento returned a four count indictment today, charging a former nurse with production of child pornography.
The indictment alleges that in May 2011, Daniel Ratner, 45, of Folsom attempted to produce visual depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to a federal Department of Justice news release. The indictment also alleges that between Aug. 1 and Nov. 23, 2012, Ratner produced child pornography involving the same minor, and that between Aug. 1 and Aug. 8, 2012, he attempted to produce visual depictions of six additional minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Ratner is in Sacramento County Jail, having been charged by the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office in December with multiple counts of indecent assault, possession of child pornography and production of child pornography.
The case resulted from an investigation by the Folsom Police Department, the Sacramento Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Kyle Reardon, who is prosecuting the case.
