The United States Postal Service rate for mailing a letter First-Class increased 1 cent on Sunday, bringing the price to 46 cents.
Sunday's price increase was one of several updated rates authorized last year. The postal service, which operates as a self-supporting government entity, is under growing pressure to right its financial ship.
Forever stamps remain good for mailing a one-once letter, despite the change. Other changes include, the introduction of a $1.10 Global Forever Stamp and a 1 cent increase for mailing postcards, bringing the postcard postage to 33 cents.
It previously cost 85 cents to mail letters to Canada and Mexico and $1.05 for other international destinations.
