A Union Pacific freight train that originated in Roseville struck and killed a man sitting on Union Pacific railroad tracks in Davis on Monday morning.
The man was hit about two miles from the nearest railroad crossing. An investigation is under way, according to UP.
Davis police said they were alerted to the fatality about 4:30 a.m., responding to the area of Second Street and Pena Drive.
CBS Sacramento reported that the accident affected Capitol Corridor train commuters but that delays ended after Amtrak opened a second track.
