Sharing God's Bounty "30 Years - 1 Million Meals"Loading
  • meals
A cake celebrating 30 years of service and 1 million meals was prepared for Tuesday night, as Sharing God's Bounty, a weekly meal program for needy individuals and families sponsored at St. Philomene's Church. According to program co-founder, Sacramento Superior Court Judge James Mize, the program is the longest-running, continuously serving, Catholic-sponsored free-meal program in the Sacramento Valley. It started six months before Loaves and Fishes. The meal is served from 6 to 7 p.m. each Tuesday. It draws 300-400 people early in the month, and 600 to 700 late in the month, when people tend to run out of money. It is open to the community, to people of all faiths.
