Placer's Eddie Vanderdoes and Folsom's Jake Browning landed major All-State football honors from Cal-Hi Sports and Maxpreps.com.
Browning, a quarterback, was Cal-Hi Sports' State Sophomore of the Year and Maxpreps.com's Northern California Offensive Player of the Year.
The highly recruited Vanderdoes, a 6-foot-4, 305-pound defensive linemen, made Cal-Hi's Overall First-Team Defense and Maxpreps.com's All-State Division III and NorCal teams.
The 6-2, 185-pound Browning threw for 5,248 yards and 63 touchdowns this season, including 10 in his varsity debut against Woodcreek. Folsom won 14 consecutive games before falling to national power De La Salle of Concord in the CIF Northern California Regional playoffs.
Vanderdoes had 72 tackles and nine sacks in helping Placer to an 11-1 record. Having taken recruiting trips to UCLA, USC, Notre Dame, Washington and, this weekend, Alabama, Vanderdoes is expected to announce his college choice Wednesday on national signing day.
Granite Bay coach Ernie Cooper, who led the Grizzlies to the CIF State Division I Bowl title, was selected as the Maxpreps.com State and NorCal Large School Coach of the Year.

Cal-Hi Overall All-State First team: Del Oro's Brandon Monroe (San Jose State commit), multipurpose; Vanderdoes, defensive line. Second team: Del Campo's A.J. Samatua (San Jose State), offensive line; Oak Ridge's Zack Claiborne, defensive line; Granite Bay's Beau Hershberger (Nevada), linebacker. Third team: Nevada Union's Tanner Vallejo, linebacker; Elk Grove's Robert Frazier, running back-defensive back.
Cal-Hi All-State Medium Schools First team: Antelope's Daren Echeveria (Air Force), offensive line; Sutter's Ryan Staas, linebacker; Second team: Sutter's Phillip Robledo, linebacker; Sacramento's Josiah Johnson, quarterback-defensive back.
Cal-Hi All-State Small Schools First team: Vanderdoes, defensive line; Placer's Isaiah Pineiro, defensive back.
Cal-Hi All-State Juniors First team: Burbank's Ngalu Tupa, defensive line. Second team: Folsom's Troy Knox, wide receiver; Capital Christian's Nifae Lealao, defensive line. Third team: Franklin's Joey Banks, linebacker; Del Oro's Tyler Meteer, tight end-linebacker; Pleasant Grove's DeAundre Terrell, quarterback-defensive back; Cosumnes Oaks' Alex Van Dyke, wide receiver.
Cal-Hi All-State Sophomores First team: Folsom's Cody Creason, offensive line; Browning, quarterback; Granite Bay's Cameron Smith, linebacker; Folsom's Bailey Laolagi, running back-linebacker. Second team: Vista del Lago's Matt Jimison, quarterback; Elk Grove's Spencer Sheff, linebacker-running back; Capital Christian's Justice Shelton-Mosely, running back-defensive back.
Maxpreps.com's All-State Team Division I First team: Browning, quarterback; Claiborne, linebacker. Second team: Knox, wide receiver; Echeveria, offensive line; Frazier, running back; Monroe, running back; Hershberger, linebacker; Vallejo, linebacker. Division II Second team: River City's Vincent Chelini, punter; Division III First team: Vanderdoes, defensive line; Staas, linebacker.
