PHILADELPHIA – DeMarcus Cousins wasn't mad at an official this time. But he still picked up another technical foul.
Cousins was called for his league-leading 10th technical with 2:12 left in the third quarter of Friday night's 89-80 loss to the 76ers.
Cousins was called for a personal foul while diving for the ball against Philadelphia center Spencer Hawes. After the foul, Cousins slammed the ball against the floor while still sitting on the court.
"I was mad that I fouled," Cousins said. "I wasn't mad about the call. I was mad I didn't steal it. I never really got an explanation (for the technical)."
The technical was Cousins' first since Jan. 14. He would be suspended for one game if he reaches 16 technicals. A suspension would follow with every other technical from then on.
The Lakers' Kobe Bryant, the Clippers' Blake Griffin and Matt Barnes and the Knicks' Carmelo Anthony also began play Friday with nine technicals.
The King with the second-most technicals is Jason Thompson with six.
Throwback night – The Kings announced they will be one of seven teams participating in NBA Hardwood Classic Nights in February and March.
The Kings will wear alternate jerseys from the 1996-97 and 1997-98 seasons in 10 games (five home, five away), starting Monday at Utah.
Those teams included Mitch Richmond, Lionel Simmons and Corliss Williamson.
The two-toned purple and black jerseys also are checkered-sided.
Atlanta, Chicago, Indiana, Miami, Milwaukee and Phoenix are the other teams participating in Hardwood Classic Nights.
Sick leave – Forward James Johnson did not play Friday because of an illness. Johnson returned to the locker room in the second quarter.
The Kings already had one player miss time on this trip because of illness. John Salmons played only in the first quarter Monday in Washington and missed Wednesday's game at Boston.
Back-to-backs – Today's game at New York will complete the Kings' 10th set of back-to-back games this season.
The Kings are 4-5 in the second game of back-to-backs and will look to avoid being swept in back-to-back games for the fifth time. The Knicks played at home Friday and defeated Milwaukee 96-86.
