The nearly 50 percent of households in the United States that watched Sunday's Super Bowl will remember more than just the 49ers losing 34-31 to the Ravens.

Here are five highlights we won't soon forget:

• The lights went out for 35 minutes in the third quarter. How does that happen at a Super Bowl? Seriously, someone has some explaining to do.

• The entertainment was amazing, starting with Jennifer Hudson and the Sandy Hook students singing "America the Beautiful," followed by Alicia Keys' soulful rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" and the halftime performance by Beyonce.

• The commericials always stand out, with this year's most memorable likely to be from GoDaddy (Bar Refaeli kissing the red-cheeked nerd, which led to #NoDaddy), though two of my favorites were the prom spot from Audi and "Viva young" from Taco Bell.

• The HarBowl was all it was billed to be, Jim Harbaugh and John Harbaugh going head-to-head on one of the world's biggest stages. We'd love to be a fly on the wall at the next family gathering.

• In just his 10th NFL start, quarterback Colin Kaepernick nearly led the 49ers back from a 22-point third-quarter deficit. If the 49ers had won, the comeback would have been among the top moments in Super Bowl history. Despite coming up short, Kaepernick established himself as one of the NFL's top young quarterbacks, with Robert Griffin III, Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson.
