ANAHEIM Saku Koivu scored the tying goal early in the third period, defenseman Sheldon Souray netted the winner with 6:39 left, and rookie Viktor Fasth made 25 saves as the Anaheim Ducks handed the Sharks their first regulation loss of the season, 2-1 on Monday night.
The Sharks, who won their first seven games before a 2-1 shootout loss to Nashville on Saturday, lead the Pacific Division by two points over the Ducks. Fasth is the first Anaheim goalie to win his first three NHL starts.
San Jose's Thomas Greiss, returning to the site of his NHL debut in January 2008, stopped Anaheim's first 24 shots as he nursed a 1-0 lead created by Logan Couture's first-period goal.
Stars 3, Avalanche 2 in Denver Jamie Benn scored his first two goals of the season, and Dallas beat Colorado, spoiling the night for Milan Hejduk as the Avalanche forward was honored for playing in his 1,000th NHL game.
Hejduk became the 30th player to reach that milestone with one organization. He is the first player to do it with Colorado.
Penguins The NHL agrees with Chris Kunitz he scored four goals instead of three in Pittsburgh's win over Washington.
The league announced that Kunitz has been credited with a fourth goal from Sunday's 6-3 victory. Replays appeared to show that Kunitz redirected Paul Martin's shot from the point for the game's first goal. The official scorer initially gave the goal Kunitz but switched it to Martin.
Rangers-Wild trade New York traded rugged forward Mike Rupp to Minnesota for forwards Darroll Powe and Nick Palmieri. The Rangers have been looking for depth at forward to complement their top line of Rick Nash, Brad Richards and former Wild star Marian Gaborik. New York also is dealing with the loss of captain Ryan Callahan, sidelined by a dislocated shoulder.
