Brandon Monroe never wavered, never cut back.
He was headed to San Jose State the entire time.
The Bee's Player of the Year from Del Oro High School formally signed with San Jose State today, doing so in Florida where he will play in a high school All-Star game.
Monroe was a 1,500-yard rusher for Del Oro who also hammered players as a safety and broke long gains on special teams. He missed three games with a knee strain, vowed to come back to play for his school, and did, producing the best rushing games in the section down the stretch.
Monroe goes to a San Jose State program that is coming off its best season since 1940. He could play safety, though Del Oro coach Casey Taylor likes him as a runner.
"Oh, I think he's great there," Taylor said at running the ball. "He's outstanding. He has great lateral quickness and vision." - Follow on Twitter: @SacBee_JoeD
