Certain low-income households can get a break on their water bill in the city of Sacramento.
The new Utility Rate Assistance Program saves qualifying residents $72 a year. The program is designed to offset some water and wastewater rate increases that took place in July. To qualify for the $6-a-month break, customers must be:
At or below the federal poverty level (annual income of up to $23,050 for a family of four).
A single-family residential customer.
Living at the household where the discount would be received.
The application for the assistance program is at www.cityofsacramento.org/utilities, or call (916) 808-5454 to have an application mailed.
