Re "Why Barack Obama is the most radical president in U.S. history" (Viewpoints, Feb. 7): It seems someone needs to address Charles A. Hummer's attack on President Barack Obama, because this utter nonsense cannot go unchallenged. He cited what he called "Obama's brand of uncompromising politics," suggesting that he would "become further emboldened," for some unclear reason.
I ask you, where was Hummer for the last four years. Is he unaware that Mitch McConnell, the Senate GOP leader, vowed to "make Obama a one-term president."
Obama, naively and acting in good faith, made unilateral concessions on spending cuts, without a shred of reciprocity from the other side. Now that he has wised up, and he has finally found his voice, he is pushing back.
Why does Hummer think Obama won the election by more than five million votes. Perhaps it is because the electorate understands what the real problem in Washington is. It's people who think the way Hummer does.
