Citigroup Inc. is eliminating 181 office jobs in West Sacramento later this year.
A spokeswoman for the New York financial services conglomerate said employees were notified of the terminations earlier this week. The layoffs are expected to take effect by the third quarter of this year.
The West Sacramento site supports Citi's consumer banking division. About 40 employees will remain in West Sacramento after the layoffs.
The cutbacks are part of a major "repositioning" announced in December. Citi said it would eliminate a total of 11,000 jobs, reducing annual costs by $1.1 billion.
A spokeswoman said the bank will work with the terminated West Sacramento employees "to help them explore open positions within and outside of Citi."
