DeMarcus Cousins still tops the NBA in technical fouls, but his lead has narrowed.
The NBA rescinded one of his technicals, leaving him with 11, one more than Matt Barnes (Del Campo High School) of the Los Angeles Clippers. The rescinded technical was from the Kings' Feb. 1 loss at Philadelphia.
"I actually made the call myself," Cousins said of his appeal. "Luckily enough, they rescinded it, and we're good."
Cousins was assessed the technical with 2:12 left in the third quarter after he dived for a steal, was called for a foul and slammed the ball down as he sat on the floor.
Cousins said after the game that he wasn't mad at the official. He said he was upset that he committed a foul instead of holding onto the ball.
If he reaches 15 technical fouls, he will be suspended one game for each additional technical.
Cousins was called for two technicals in Monday's overtime loss at Utah, leading to an automatic ejection. He leads the league with three ejections.
"I'm disappointed in myself that I let my emotions get the best of me (Monday)," Cousins said. "I should have just walked away, but at the same time, I needed an explanation as to why I got the first tech, which I still haven't gotten. But it happens. I've moved on."
Cousins has been frustrated with officials in the past for not explaining why he was given technical fouls.
"I feel that shouldn't be allowed," Cousins said. "Before every game, they tell you that you can talk to them, and they should (allow) that. But that's a situation I've moved on from, and I'm getting ready for the next game."
