Re "UCD surgery leaves family bereft" (Page A1, Feb. 10): The Sacramento area has very few things that can be considered world class. One is UC Davis. Yet rather than stories touting the virtues of this fine institution, The Bee seems to go out of its way to heap criticism on the school.
Last year it was the pepper spraying incident. More recently, the experimental surgery at the UC Davis Medical Center and the failure of the West Campus housing development to live up to all its promise.
While these events were all worthy news items, The Bee extensive coverage and negative slant is puzzling. The pepper spraying was blown way out of proportion, that the med school tragedy happened after those involved volunteered for risky procedures, and West Campus is largely a success. More balanced coverage seems appropriate.
