Elk Grove resident Robert Trigg will be sworn in as the newest city council member at a ceremony Wednesday during the regular City Council meeting.
Trigg was appointed by the Elk Grove council Jan. 23 to fill the remaining term of the District 4 seat, vacated by Gary Davis when he was elected as the first at-large mayor. Trigg's term ends in December 2014.
Trigg served as the superintendent of the Elk Grove Unified School District from 1983 to 1995. Most recently, Trigg served on the California State Board of Education, and as president of his church congregation and council. He has been a resident of Elk Grove for 29 years.
He will take the oath of office at 6 p.m. at the council chambers, 8400 Laguna Palms Way, Elk Grove. A brief reception will follow.
