Re "Clean energy sector grows" (Our Region, Feb. 12): Sacramento Area Regional Technology Alliance efforts to bring new jobs to the region and foster new segments of economic growth are exemplified in the 31 percent jump in clean energy jobs in the last year.
Notably, the story mentions that companies are pulling talent from UC Davis and Sacramento State. SARTA and NextEd, affiliates of the Sacramento Metro Chamber, recognize the value of current universities and the need for future universities in our region in growing the area's overall economic growth.
The Metro Chamber's involvement in Next Economy dovetails those efforts by creating the kind of environment in which innovation will thrive. We cannot become a first-rate region without focusing on growing and maintaining a world-class talent base. SARTA clearly understands and pursues that truth and our region is already reaping the benefits.
