Re "By making a scene, DREAMers hurt immigration cause" (Viewpoints, Feb. 13): Ruben Navarrett's negative attitude about today's youth compelled me to contribute my own perspective as a high school English teacher for the past 15 years.
I have taught in three different high schools with very different demographics. At all three schools, I have encountered a majority of young people who care deeply about their fellow human beings, sincerely want to contribute to making the world a better place, and despite facing challenges often forgotten or not recognized by adults, strive to achieve many admirable goals.
There truly is so much good to be found in our younger generation. I want to remind people who may need reminding that my high school students provide me with hope for the future every day.
