Sacramento's venerable Town & Country Village shopping center, in the midst of a major makeover, confirmed Wednesday that it's adding three big-box stores later this year.

TJ Maxx, Ross Dress for Less and Bed, Bath & Beyond will hold grand openings by year's end, said the center's owner, Donahue Schriber. Arrival of the three retailers was first reported in The Bee last fall.

Donahue Schriber, a Costa Mesa real estate investment trust, bought the center in 2004 and began a $20 million remodel in November. The renovation is expected to be completed by the end of the year, said spokeswoman Sally Rice.

The Fulton Avenue center opened in 1946 and is among the oldest shopping centers west of the Mississippi.
