Flamingo Roundup at Sacramento ZooLoading
  • RB Flamingo Roundup
Flamingos at the Sacramento Zoo in Sacramento on Thursday, February 14, 2013. The flamingo roundup happens once a year when all of the flamingos (about 40 of them) receive their annual physical. Because they cannot be put to sleep and brought to the veterinary hospital, and they are so skittish, it is a carefully orchestrated process very different from other animal exams. They are first corralled together in the lake and then keepers bring them one by one to the vets., who have stations setup next to the lake.
