The California Disability Services Association has named Unisource Worldwide Inc. the 2012 Employer of the Year for its commitment to employing people with developmental disabilities.
Norcross, Ga.-based Unisource was nominated by PRIDE Industries, the Roseville nonprofit that provides jobs for people with disabilities. PRIDE has partnered with Unisource for more than 15 years, supporting the employment of about 150 individuals with significant disabilities.
Unisource employs about 50 PRIDE Industries clients with disabilities at its Sacramento facility, where the employees provide pre- assembly manufacturing services.
Unisource also partners with PRIDE for assembly and kitting services, creating work for up to 100 people with developmental disabilities at PRIDE's facility in the Natomas area.
CDSA is a trade association representing more than 80 community-based organizations that help Californians with developmental disabilities find meaningful employment, live independently and participate in a broad range of activities.
