Re "'Shooter' deserves benefits" (Letters, Feb. 16): I thank the SEAL who served our country and shot Bin Laden. But he left military service 36 months prior to earning a military retirement with benefits. That was his choice. If he hadn't shot Bin Laden, another SEAL would have done so. It was their job to do this. He should be congratulated and proud of his role in the plan to get the mission done. It surely was no surprise to him that when he decided to leave service 36 months before earning the benefits that those benefits would not be there. What he does deserve is a job.
