Andy Alfaro Bee file Sacramento's Tower Theatre opened in 1938 and gave its name to the eventual Tower Records music chain, which was founded by Russ Solomon in the drugstore that once was next door. The theater has plenty of quirks but still draws crowds of movie lovers.Each of these theaters offers a special moviegoing experience. They are, clockwise from top left, the Varsity in Davis, the State in Auburn and the Crest in downtown Sacramento.
