Kudos to: Dutch Bros. Coffee drive-thru stand in Auburn

Accomplishment: Raised $3,150 to help pay the medical expenses of longtime customer Tami Cooke.

Details: Cooke, a mother of five, has been battling cancer in her lungs and kidneys since 2011. On Jan. 18, the Dutch Bros. stand at 3995 Grass Valley Highway (Highway 49) earmarked all the day's sales proceeds and tips for Cooke, and accepted additional customer donations.

Kudos to: Assistance League of Sacramento

Accomplishment: 40th anniversary of the group's partnership with the Governor's Mansion

Details: In 1967, the Legislature was considering adding the unoccupied Governor's Mansion at 15th and H streets as a state museum. Janet Mulligan, president of Assistance League, contacted state Sen. Albert Rodda offering volunteer services. In 1973, Assistance League members became docents, helping to ensure that the landmark remains open to the public.

Kudos to: McDonald's restaurant on Richards Boulevard

Accomplishment: A top teacher at Smythe Academy Middle School will get $1,000 from the restaurant.

Details: Manager Jim Hague, who runs the Gallo family-owned McDonald's, works with principal Will Brown on the award.

High-performing students also get gift cards to the restaurant.

Hague is a 2012 Ray Kroc award winner, given to the best McDonald's managers.
