Re "Kaiser ahead of curve" (Page A1, Feb. 18): Thank you for the well-balanced article about Kaiser Permanente's model for preventive and integrated health care.
Like Sharon Brandon, my life was saved by the wonderful staff at Kaiser. For many years, my annual mammogram results were normal. In 2010, despite receiving written and telephone reminders from Kaiser, I hadn't gotten around to getting the test done. After receiving a somewhat insistent second phone call from Kaiser, I had the test done. It showed Stage 1 breast cancer, which was successfully treated.
Innumerable people were involved in insuring my wellness, especially my surgeon and the caring staff at the radiation center at Rancho Cordova. The experience was also free from the stress of filing insurance claim forms. The only bill I received totaled less than $30 -- for my lumpectomy. I give thanks daily for the exceptional care I received at Kaiser.
