The Urban Land Institute Sacramento on Thursday will host a program aimed at identifying potential public sector spending on civic amenities and infrastructure that will help attract additional private sector investments in Sacramento's urban core.

Democratic Rep. Doris Matsui is the keynote speaker at "Unlocking Sacramento's Urban Core: Identifying, Connecting and Enhancing the Assets," set for 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Crocker Art Museum, 216 O St., in Sacramento.

Matsui is scheduled to outline how the region can position itself for federal spending on bridges, transit, streetcars and other major projects. A panel discussion featuring community and business leaders also is scheduled.

On-site registration can be done from 8 to 8:30 a.m.
