Re "Cop kills man in Rancho Cordova" (Page B2, Feb. 19): Here we go again: police fear for their safety and fire their weapons.
In the most recent incident, an apparently large, agitated man is struggling with police trying to subdue him. The police are having a difficult time doing so. The man gets in a few good blows.
What should the police do? Should they call in a K-9, summon more officers from the huge force surrounding the dwelling, or shoot him the leg? None of the above. They shot and killed him.
This incident sounds so much like an incident in the past where a highly agitated young man would not leave his room. Law enforcement in this area is part of the thread running through this society that if one has a problem, solve it with a gun.
