The Lassen National Forest and the Bureau of Land Management are offering a free guided snowshoe walk Monday near Hog Flat, off Highway 44 west of Susanville.

The walk covers level terrain and will last no more than 90 minutes, said Jill Poulsen, a Bureau of Land Management employee organizing the event.

Participants should meet at 6 p.m. Monday at the junction of Goumaz Road and Highway 44, about six miles west of the junction of Highways 36 and 44.

Registration is required by calling the Lassen Forest's Eagle Lake District at (530) 257-4188.

Snowshoes will be provided and skiers are welcome, Poulsen said.

Community and school groups are also welcome to participate and should call the Eagle Lake District to make arrangements.

Two more snowshoe walks are scheduled for March 6 and March 20. Those walks will start at 3:30 p.m. at locations to be announced.
