Re "Teens arrested after guns found at schools" (Page B4, Feb. 20): I believe my thoughts are in line with many other citizens, teachers, classmates, and administrators when I say that guns do not belong in our schools. In the past few weeks there have been several reported cases of weapons near or on school campuses.
As a former teacher and a parent, I encourage all parents who read this to talk with their kids. The tragedies of recent months should not have happened and should not be repeated because of poor choices that are made. Parents please talk to your children. If they are having troubles seek out help for them for the safety of everyone. There is no shame in seeking help for problems or mental issues. I think we can all agree that we would much rather see students in a counselor's office than behind bars.
