Nine people were taken to local hospitals Friday night following a four-vehicle collision at Laguna Boulevard and Neosho Drive in Elk Grove.

Detective James Kang of the Elk Grove Police Department said the crash occurred about 8:30 p.m.

Late Friday, investigators were interviewing witnesses to try to piece together what happened.

Kang said it appears a vehicle westbound on Laguna Boulevard overcorrected and went into the eastbound lane, striking a sport-utility vehicle and causing it to overturn.

Kang said a woman and four children ages 7 to 14 were in the SUV and were taken to local hospitals, along with occupants of other vehicles involved.

He said none appeared to be seriously injured.
