Sacramento temperatures will be a few degrees cooler this weekend, before warming up in the coming week.
A light system that moved into the region this morning is expected to leave by early evening, the National Weather Service predicts.
"We aren't expecting any precipitation," said Drew Peterson, a forecaster with the weather service in Sacramento. "But we'll see temperatures drop down into the low 60s."
By Sunday, daytime temperatures should rebound into the mid-60s, before slowly climbing into the low 70s for the work week. The average high temperature for this time of year is 62 degrees.
Peterson said the above-average temperatures have contributed to lower levels of precipitation. As of today, the Sacramento region is at 94 percent of normal for precipitation, and the percentage is likely to drop fairly soon.
"The dry trend looks like it's going to continue for the next week or so," Peterson said.
