Konner Veteto made a layup with five seconds left Saturday night to give Sacramento State a 51-50 comeback win over host UC Santa Barbara, Sac State reported.
The Gauchos led 50-49 on Taran Brown's three-pointer with 17 seconds to go. After a timeout, the Hornets' Dylan Garrity dribbled down the clock before firing a one-handed bullet pass to Veteto for the layin.
Santa Barbara (8-18) had one final chance, but Michael Bryson's contested three-point attempt hit the front rim as time expired.
The Hornets (13-12) ended a two-game losing streak overall and a five-game road skid.
Sac State outscored Santa Barbara 23-10 over the final 12 minutes. John Dickson scored eight of the Hornets' last 15 points and finished with 12. Garrity also scored 12, and Veteto had 11 points and eight rebounds.
UC Davis 79, Northern Colorado 78 at the Pavilion Paolo Mancasola made an 18-footer with 1.8 seconds left to lift the Aggies, UC Davis reported.
The Bears (9-17) had taken a 78-77 lead on Paul Garnica's three-pointer with 14.5 seconds left.
After a timeout, the Aggies' Corey Hawkins drove and found Mancasola open near the free-throw line. Mancasola swished it for his only basket. He finished with four points.
Hawkins led UC Davis (12-14) with 34 points, and J.T. Adenrele supplied 18 points and nine rebounds.
Women
Sac State 78, Northern Arizona 68 in Flagstaff, Ariz. The Hornets clinched a berth in the Big Sky tournament for the third time in four seasons, according to the Sac State athletics website.
Sac State (15-10, 10-6) led by as many as 24 points in the second half. The Lumberjacks (7-18, 6-10) closed to 73-64 with 1:52 to play. The Hornets held on by making seven of their last nine free throws.
Fantasia Hilliard had 16 points, Alle Moreno scored 15, and Kylie Kuhns had 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Hornets. Kuhns is just 17 rebounds from breaking the conference record for career rebounds.
Cal State Fullerton 60, UC Davis 42 at the Pavilion The Titans took control in the second half and ended a nine-game losing streak, UC Davis reported.
Fullerton (8-18, 4-10 Big West Conference) outscored the Aggies 42-19 in the second half, including a 19-0 run.
Sydnee Fipps had 14 points for UC Davis (11-15, 6-9).
