Chilly breezes should taper off in the Sacramento Valley this afternoon, bringing warmer temperatures and mostly sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service.
Monday's temperatures are expected to dip, the result of a storm passing by to the north of the valley, but then will start a gradual climb to the 70s by Thursday, said Holly Osborne, a weather service meteorologist .
"We'll have clouds Monday, as a weather system moves by to the north," Osborne said. "We shouldn't get any rain from it, just clouds and cooler temperatures, dropping to the low- to mid-60s in the valley."
By Wednesday, the sun is expected to reappear and temperatures will warm to around 70, and then peak in the low 70s by Saturday, a few degrees above normal for late February and March, Osborne said.
But don't put away your rain gear for the year, Osborne cautions.
"We can't say the precipitation season is totally over, because there are some storm systems forecast to the north of us," she said.
The 7-day forecast is as follows:
Today: Sunny, with a high near 67. North northwest wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.
Monday: Sunny, with a high near 65.
Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 67. North northwest wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.
Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 67.
Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 69.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 71.
Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 73.
