Re "GOP'S problems arrived in California first" (Viewpoints, Feb. 22): When those on the left lecture the GOP about its failures to win elections they seem to always say, with slurs and distortions of truth, that GOP problems arise from not being more like those on the left. Columnist Peter Schrag is no different.
As a conservative, I would say that if winning elections is dependent upon compromising on that which it is not possible to compromise on and be true to your convictions, it is better to lose. For example, I believe in a God who sees what we do and I can't imagine him approving of abortion and gay marriage.
