Re "Tax break urged for unborn children( Capitol & California, Feb. 23): It is appalling to me that our legislators spend the vast majority of their time promoting their own agendas. Why propose a bill such as this, when it's obvious main purpose is to enable future attacks on a woman's right to control her own body?
Assemblywoman Shannon Grove, R-Bakersfield, is on the record as being opposed to abortion, and trying to define an unborn fetus as a tax deduction only further serves her selfish purposes.
The documented limited benefit this would actually provide for most expectant mothers further illustrates the absurdity of Assembly Bill 673, especially to pregnant minors. Seriously, how many of the pregnant minors could actually take the deduction or even file an income tax return?
It is high time our public servants focused more on making improvements the state of our state and this great nation, and substantially less on being stewards or their own selfish interests.
