Re "Council endorses new arena talks" (Page A1, Feb. 27): It's well known in political circles that Sacramento City Council members Kevin McCarty and Darrell Fong are exploring runs for separate state Assembly districts. They are sacrificing the hourly needs of their council districts for greater political glory. Case in point is the downtown arena debate, which both immediately rejected without bothering to wait for facts.
While I grieve for the state Assembly should McCarty and Fong advance, let's face facts: their blind ambitions will do less damage to Sacramento among a group of 80 legislators than among nine city council members.
