Re "Kings investors may emerge today" (Our Region, Feb. 28): Have you ever had the very unpleasant experience of sitting at someone death bed as their life ebbed away, or watched a pet in the spasms of its final moments? It's called the death throes, and it's ugly to watch.
The Sacramento Kings are going through it now. Everybody knows it. Yet, somehow, supporters cannot come to grip with the team's inevitable departure. Crying and angst abounds -- but, it will not help. The die is cast. The Kings will leave Sacramento. There is absolutely nothing that can stop it.
We are watching the sad, final moments stages of a basketball team surrounded by clinging, grieving mourners, who simply cannot let it go, or allow it a natural, dignified end.
